Skyrim - 'Plog' Meta-Reflection

Unwittingly, I have been playing this interesting game, Skyrim, and writing the related blogs for nearly a month. From the very beginning, setting up my own character and expecting the afterward happenings, to the present quest, seeking for the dragon temple, it has been a long-time journey and I believe I had learned much and gained a few of advantages of this game.

The first advantage is the skill that I improved myself to search as much information from the first sights of the names as possible. For instance, in my blog 1.2 the Unbound:" Another thing intrigued me is there was a book named The Book of the Dragonborn on a table. Since the reason why I had to keep escaping and hiding was the threat from that horrible dragon, I believed that dragons must be one of the most significant elements in this game. Although I did not finish reading this book, I did take it and I would try to learn more from this book. " I wrote. Here, I analyzed some assumptions and speculations about the relationship between this book and the whole game itself. For another instance, in my blog 3.2 the Black Falls Barrow, I mentioned and also analyzed some points about the name of that place where I met with Jarl. In both of these two examples, I focused on the names and wanted to search information I need and then I did imagine what connections it might have with the bigger background, which is also a wonderful tool for the economics and the managers.

The second skill I absorbed from this game is comparing and concluding useful information that I searched. It seems that this second skill is a little bit similar to the first one, but actually it is separate and different from the first. Still using those two examples in last paragraph, after I had searched useful information, I compared what I received from objects with what I ever thought about them. To make it easier and clearer, I am saying that one thing must be more or less different when you really touch them from your former imagination about it. Sometimes, it will even reflect some negative or reverse messages. All in all, my second skill is that when I grab information from the names or other forms, not only do I need to imagine and speculate about it, but I also need to compare it with my own experience or perspectives to justify whether it is really beneficial to me. For my intended major, I will confront many strange and unknown items and receive massive messages from them, so to do well in how to deal with those sources is also helpful.

The last one is not about the boring information, but more about the people and myself. The first important decision every player made in this game is to choose which power to follow immediately after that poor village was destroyed by that black horrible dragon. Following this, each of us has made tens of decisions that might influence subsequent happenings or differentiate the courses of this game. Therefore, this time what I gained from this game is learning how to make the proper choices and how to deal with people of different characteristics. For example, before I was permitted to enter Whiterun town, I had to answer the guard's question. In blog 2.2, I wrote that "There were 5 choices, and obviously the first one-Riverwood calls for Jarl's aid-was what I need answer to that guard. After answering him, I was finally permitted to access into this prosperous and  relatively crowded city." The scenes in blog 3.2 of what I did with that religious singer and the guardian of Jarl were also examples. From of all these cases, I conclude that I need to behave specifically to various groups of people, which is strongly believed to probably help a businessman a lot.

In summary, although I was playing a three-digital role-play game, I had acquired these three meaningful skills. More importantly, three of them are convinced to powerfully push me and assist me in my academic areas and further majors. I will still enjoy this game while continuously drawing helpful things from it.

Skyrim 3.1 & 3.2 - Whiterun and Black Falls Barrow

It's been a long time I did not post anything on my blog. Sorry about it, and the reason of this is I was overwhelmingly attracted by this interesting and challenging game. Anyways, let me start the most particular chapter that I have ever been written so far.

As I wrote in last blog, I considered this game just started at the time that I finally discovered Whiterun, which was perfectly proofed later. Immediately after I entered this town, I was shocked by the scenes of splendid Gothic or Middle Ages buildings - so sorry for not really clear about the types of the varieties of the architecture, a limpid bluish river flowing under the bridge, several residents in carefully designed suits or costumes, etc. Here, I made a foolish mistake: since my quest was to visit the top of that hill and to meet with a kinda king or emperor character whose name, Jarl, was introduced later, I rushed into a house that was just a little bit higher than others, where the only things I found were items sticked with "steal" sign and nobody was there, or the emperor I was seeking for.

Alright, forget that stupid mistake. Out of that stupid house, I saw some people gathering together; it was like a market, where I could buy or steal meat, culinary stuff, silver decorations, etc. Honestly, it is somewhat similar to the modern markets, while the only difference are the sellers that are selling goods and merchants; those sellers in Skyrim are dressed with poorer and kind of ugly clothes that seemed like produced during Middle Ages. One more funny thing is that when I entered this gorgeous town and firstly saw those town civilians, I was wondering whether I was gonna be attacked or not, because most of them looked rude and tough. After this market, there was a giant tree located in a kind of garden when I stepped up a number of stairs. Beside this tree, a monk or Buddhist singing sort of poems or songs, caught my attention. He sang: "And deserve our praise you do, for we are one! Ere your ascended and the Eight became Nine, you walked among us, great lalos, not as god, but as man!" However, I had no idea what he was singing about.

Finally, I discovered the Dragonsearch, my goal. I need to spend a number of words on this name here. As I mentioned in my first several blog, this game is considered to contain many stories and chapters about the dragon. This name, Dragonsearch, does it literally mean a place that I could search information about the dragon? Does it have any internal connection with The Book of The Dragonborn I mentioned before? Honestly, I am unsure about all of these Qs, but one thing I am sure is that it still cost much time to completely explore and understand this game.

Permitted to talk to Jarl, I explained the reason why I was there and asked him for help. Then Jarl invited me to chat with Jarl's court wizard, Farengar, from whom I received far more information about the dragons and the magic, and Farengar said he needed me to do a favor for him: to search an ancient stone tablet in a dangerous ruin, Black Falls Barrow. Apart from the quest, this mage Farengar really intrigued me, because he had searched much information about the dragons, as he said: "where had they gone all those years ago? where were they coming from?" The answers of these questions are also what I really want to learn. Besides, this quest was to find a stone tablet called Dragonstone, that was said to contain a map of dragon burial sites, which must be challenging and interesting.

Just before I began my journey to that destination, one phenomenon that tricked me is that the background music completely varied when I got out of the town, from peaceful, kind, and quiet to more gloomy, tense and noisy. Also, I reminded me I had to be careful because I could randomly get attacked by monsters or other aggressive characters. However, I was still assaulted by several wild animals, like few wolves. Under the foot of the mount, there was a fork junction. Firstly, I went rightward but I realized that was a big mistake later, for that there were few horrific giants wandering there, and I thought they would attack me when they saw me, such a LITTLE prey. Without any doubt, I died this time, so I chose to turn left at the second time. For this time, it was a relatively peaceful route, in spite of several weak wolves. Running for about 2 minutes after that junction, a huge, grandiose and magnificent relic, or called a temple, like just lifted from the ground. It looked like even higher than the top of the mount, and really like a dragon lying on the roof of this mount, which I thought should be the reason why the Dragonstone was hidden in this temple. After beating a few of guards or protectors, I searched them and finally got there, standing in front of that ancient temple.

From now on, I did not know what would be there waiting for me. I did know that it would be much more interesting and I would try my best to take it over. That is what the Lord means indeed.

Skyrim 2.2 Before the Storm

Bonjour everyone, having been playing this game so far, I guess the game is just to start right now. To find someone of Whiterun is the actual beginning of this game. It is before the storm indeed.

It cost me much time running to Whiterun and some funny things took place meanwhile. Leaving Riverwood, I immediately rushed into the blue and clean river, because I thought I could swim in the river, but the truth is that it was like running in the river, which was stupid honestly. On the way to Whiterun, I met several people that looked like golden hunters fighting with a giant human. Ashamed, I played twice to successfully kill this giant, because I unconsciously attacked those hunters and they besieged and killed me. After finishing this giant, I talked to a woman hunter, and I knew they were a kind of alliance named Shield-Brothers, which sounds like a popular American TV series. That woman asked me whether I wanted to join them. I rejected, because I just wanted to complete my main quest, instead of wasting time to become a busy monster killer.

When I finally discovered my target - Whiterun town, it was encircled by guards and the gate was closed. When I stepped forward to the gate, one of the guards questioned me why I came here. There were 5 choices, and obviously the first one-Riverwood calls for Jarl's aid-was what I need answer to that guard. After answering him, I was finally permitted to access into this prosperous and  relatively crowded city.

Now, at the end of this quest, I realized this game just started, and it will be a long way to go. No matter what is waiting for me there, I am prepared and confident, because my name is Lord.

Skyrim 2.1 Riverwood

Welcome to the new chapter - Skyrim land! Right now, following Hadvar, I entered the Skyrim land and arrived at the closest town Riverwood. Before my arrival, I passed by three blessing standing stones, from one of which I accepted 20 percent faster speed to learn magic skills.

When I arrived at Riverwood, I thought it was a so quiet place that everybody is peacefully doing their own work, and I saw some chicken running away from me when I cropped up.  Then, Harvar and I met his uncle Alvor, a nice-looking, muscular man with long brown hair, who invited both of us to have some food and relax in his home.

Getting into Alvor's home, a little cute girl captured my eyes, Alvor's daughter I guessed. While Alvor was communicating with Hadvar, I was looking around and saw a lot of household objects, like garlic, buckets, a grate, etc. However, all of those things were not "take" things, but "steal" things written in red, which I considered were not available to me. Then, when Hadvar began to explain the reason why we were here, I tried to talk to Alvor and some options on the right side of the screen showed up. I selected supplies, though I did not buy anything.

Out of Alvor's home, with a new mission, I did not leave this town immediately. I talked to each of those village residents, but I could not understand what they were answering to me. Maybe it was because I was not one of them, and I did not know anything here. It doesn't matter. I still got more to do - find someone in Whiterun.

Skyrim 1.2 Unbound

Welcome back to my Skyrim Blog, this time I'll share the course of the quest - unbound, known as escaping from Helgen due to the attack of that black terrified dragon..

First of all, when I created my own character, I chose the Nord as my character's race, because this race is the only one that I thought is the most similar to us human beings, and Nord males are the most handsome. Then, the game literally starts.

After that huge dragon assaulted Helgen, I followed Hadvar all the way down to a small door of a poor house. In front of that house, there was another man running out and I was given a chance to choose to still follow Hadvar, the Imperial, or Ralof, the Stormloaks. Honestly, I did not know to follow which character and I was just standing next to Hadvar, so the system acquiesced that I chose to follow the Imperial. However, if I am asked to choose again, I still want to follow Hadvar. Because Hadvar is the guy who helped me get out of that damaged village. After doing this choice, Hadvar leaded me into that house, and that's the time the mission Unbound started.

Getting into the room, talking with Hadvar, I could finally control my character: move around, collect and equip weapons and clothes, and check my skills and magics. Then, Hadvar and I fought with several Stormloaks soldiers. Hold on, one interesting thing is that I can search every enemy and grab anything I want. It is also viable to take everything around, like a groom, and to check every body lying on the ground. Another thing intrigued me is there was a book named The Book of the Dragonborn on a table. Since the reason why I had to keep escaping and hiding was the threat from that horrible dragon, I believed that dragons must be one of the most significant elements in this game. Although I did not finish reading this book, I did take it and I would try to learn more from this book. After that, I killed spiders, went through water channels, and finally arrived at the entrance of the Skyrim.

During this quest, there were many genres for interaction and conveying information. As I mentioned before, the most impressive example is that book introducing the born of dragons. Also, many other genres appeared so far, like scrolls, papers, etc.

What will happen to me in Skyrim? I am looking forward to it!

Skyrim 1.1 Choose a name - Lord

As this game is introduced as a role play one, every player has to improve and stronger his own character, complete each single quest and finish the life of all kinds of monsters. Therefore, the more powerful this character is, the easier players go through this game. Then, I want my character to be the strongest one in this game, so I would like to choose "Lord" as the name that represents my character. Besides, for the actual life, I still love this name because it somehow represents some of my characteristics and personalities: when I try to do something, I desirably want to do it the best, which is kind of like to be the lord of myself.

Back to this game, names of characters are important to them, because names are representations of each single role's unique essence and nature. At the time every player creates his or her own figure, he or she has to imagine what is gonna happen to this character and what this character is expected to become. Then, gathering all of the imaginations toward this character, gamers could come up with a particular and meaningful name for their roles For me, when I created my character, I combined experience of my real life with expectations in this game, and gave my character this name - Lord. I wish my character to be the most powerful later! Good luck!
